Rye Little League Suspension Extended To May 11th

Hi everyone. In following with an updated recommendation from the Little League International Board of Directors, which reflects the most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Rye Little League is extending its suspension of all activities until May 11th. Activities that are suspended include all practices, clinics, Rye Little League travel teams, etc. While we share in the disappointment that many of you and your children are undoubtedly feeling, it is our hope that in being responsible citizens within our community, we will all play a small, but important part in flattening the curve in the spread of the coronavirus.

Little League International is working through all possible scenarios to preserve the 2020 Little League International Tournament, and we remain hopeful that we will be able to roll out a fun, albeit abbreviated, Rye Little League baseball season for the approximately 500 children who have registered this year. To that end, we intend to finalize teams within each of our Tee Ball, Minors, Intermediates, and Majors divisions in order to be in the position that we are ready to go if/when circumstances allow us to do so. In the meantime, these next several weeks could provide the perfect opportunity to run individual practices with your children, as these one on one experiences really are where many baseball players develop their skills and love for the game.

Further e-mail updates will follow as we approach the end of this suspension period. In the meantime, please take care of your family and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Regards,

Ben Bubeck
President, Rye Little League
